Discipline-Specific Policy Validation

The coverage and conflict algorithms are independent of the specific discipline to which a policy is being applied. However, there is a set of tests that can only be applied in a discipline-specific fashion. One of these checks is to validate that the high-level policies are indeed feasible within the network. For SLAs and performance-related policies, it boils down to verifying whether the specific performance targets can be achieved within the network. For security policies, it boils down to validating that a pair of firewalls that are required to communicate support a set of encryption algorithms and parameters that allows communication to occur between them.
