I have provided a very broad overview of TCP/IP networks. An excellent detailed overview of the architecture can be found in a series of books by Comer [COMER]. A good general overview of network protocol and architecture can be found in the text by Tannenbaum [TANNEN].

There are also a few books written explicitly on the topic of QoS in the network. A good overview of QoS approaches using RSVP is given by Ferguson [FERGUSON]. A book describing DiffServ in detail [KILKKI] is also available. Other books discussing QoS include ones by Armitage [ARMI] and by Iseminger[ISEM].
