The PMP Certification Process

The PMP certification process is not for new or aspiring project managers. PMI requires that any exam taker is “experienced” and emphasizes real-life situational questions on the exam.

A prospective PMP candidate is required to have a minimum of 4,500 hours of project-management experience, with an undergraduate degree, in order to begin the qualification process. Without an undergraduate degree, the experience requirements are even more stringent. Consequently, you need to be aware of the requirements before you begin the process. See the PMI International Web site, www.pmi.org, to learn about the requirements and the organization itself.
