How much of an artistic gambler are you? Unless you are willing to venture as an “idea person” in the theatre, as a “maker of visions,” you will never become a stylist and thus will never fulfill your total function as a director. It should be perfectly clear to you by now that taking risks is not done for adventure’s sake but out of the strongest integrity and the highest regard for what the theatre as an art form can do. You can move out in an individual way and make something that can be called style.
