This seventh edition of Play Directing is dedicated to the memory of Francis Hodge, who passed away in the Spring of 2008. Dr. Hodge’s illustrious career as scholar, director, and educator spanned almost four decades at the University of Texas, Austin, where he inspired and trained generations of directing students, as well as many others whose lives he touched in the areas of acting, design, theatre technology, critical studies, and theatre education.
