Configuring a Hardware Connection Sharing Router

At least a dozen connection sharing router devices are on the market today, and I can't provide specific instructions for configuring them (although some discussion of the process can be found in Chapter 8, “Configuring Your Internet Connection”). If you've purchased one of these devices, you'll have to follow the manufacturer's installation and setup instructions.

When you configure the router, be sure to take the following security measures:

  • Change the routers from the manufacturer's default to a strong password using both letters and numbers.

  • Disable management access to the router from “outside.”
