Sharing Folders with the Network

You can share folders on your own hard drive(s) with other users on your network. The procedures are described in the following sections. Be sure, though, to consider the security aspects of file sharing before you do this. In particular, you must have some sort of firewall present if you have Internet connectivity as well as a network.

NOTE

Unless your computer is a member of a domain network File Sharing will not work unless you've run the Network Setup Wizard at least once, even if you've configured your network manually! For more information about the Network Setup Wizard, see Chapter 17.
