DVD Troubleshooting
DVD drives have their own set of issues, but can be susceptible to CD-R problems. Run through the list in the CD-R/RW section and then come back here. You should know, though, that DVD media is far denser than CD media, meaning it is also more susceptible to physical damage. If your errors are related to a single DVD and everything else works fine, replace the DVD. Primarily the problem lies with software and/or hardware. The biggest software culprit is the software decoder. The biggest hardware culprit is usually an older system. Nothing much short of a 633MHz Pentium III/Celeron system with 256MB of RAM will run DVDs without hardware decoding, and it's less expensive to get a new computer.
