Throughout this chapter, we've discussed methods of configuring Windows Explorer. Now, we're going to investigate some of the advanced methods of file and folder management.

Indexing, Compression, and Encryption

When a folder's properties are accessed within Explorer, My Computer, or My Documents, the General tab contains location, file size, and attribute information for the folder. The Advanced button displays advanced attributes which can be toggled on and off.

By default, the system will enable the Indexing Service to index all folders in order to allow for speedier searches, as discussed earlier in this chapter.
