Power Management

Earlier in this chapter, Uninterruptible Power Supplies were discussed as an excellent way to improve the power coming into your system and guard against the problems that can occur when a power outage strikes. Having power available is only one part of the equation. Windows XP has a number of options that allow managing the available power. These options are available from Control Panel in the Performance and Maintenance section by clicking Power Options. A number of different property sheets are available in Power Options. A brief discussion of each one follows (see Figure 6.12).
