Dynamic HTML with Navigator 6

With the release of Navigator 6, Netscape completely changed the direction of its browser. The underlying rendering engine of the browser was redesigned from the ground up, development of the browser was done on the open-source model, and—most importantly for the purposes of the discussion in this chapter—Netscape moved its support for HTML, Dynamic HTML, style sheets, the Document Object Model, and other technologies to be completely standards based. So, the proprietary <layer> element and layer object of Navigator 4 is no longer supported, and many of the restrictions of Navigator 4's Dynamic HTML implementation are removed.
