XML Recommendations

The XML 1.0 Recommendation laid the conceptual foundation for the XML family of technologies. It claimed to be a subset of SGML (the Standard Generalized Markup Language) and applied aspects of the SGML standard; for example, Document Type Definitions (DTDs) as a framework for constraining XML.

To achieve full productivity using XML technologies, you will need to master XML 1.0. It is written in very precise and concise language. Unfortunately, in its aim to achieve precision and conciseness, it becomes almost impenetrable at first read for those not steeped in the terminology it uses.
