Chapter 6

Personal protective equipment

Personal protective equipment (PPE) is a clothing or equipment worn by workers to protect them, usually from fire or toxic chemicals. PPE should only be used when engineering designs and operating or maintenance practices do not provide a sufficiently safe work environment. This chapter discusses the types of PPE available and when and where they should be used.
