No two XP projects will ever act exactly alike. Once you get comfortable with the basic process, you will grow it to fit your situation more precisely.
We have been prescriptive here, telling you what to do to plan your software project. At the end of the day, however, you have to own your own plan and your own planning.
One way to adapt XP planning to your own situation is to take the bits and pieces of it that make sense and mix them with what you are doing now. The problem with mix-and-match is that the parts of XP planning are intended to complement each other.
