6. The Hand/Arm Context System (HCS)
During a photo shoot, do you find yourself asking, “Now, what do I do with the hands?” Throughout my career, I have had the pleasure and privilege of teaching fellow photographers around the world about the art of people photography. I always ask my students to name their major headaches when posing people, and the responses have been overwhelmingly similar. The two most troublesome issues (and part of my motivation for writing this book) are:
• What to do with the hands
• Facial expressions
With this chapter, I hope to put an end to the ongoing frustration of what to do with the arms and hands.
