Introduction

Human resource development (HRD) can be defined, in its simplest terms—well…it actually isn't all that easy to define. A review of the research described HRD in myriad and sometimes ambiguous ways. If you have had a chance to study and review HRD-related books, articles, and documents as part of your preparation for the PHR exam, and still aren't 100% clear in your understanding of where and how it fits within the broader field of HR, you are not alone. And, when you throw organization development (OD) into the mix, things can seem even a bit more unclear.
