HR Ethics and Professional Standards

SHRM has developed and published standards for ethical behavior for the HR profession. The six dimensions of this code can be summarized as follows:

  • Professional Responsibility: As HR professionals, we serve as more than just individual contributors to our organizations. Instead, we are representatives of and ambassadors for our profession. In that spirit, we must demonstrate personal and professional accountability for every decision we make, and for every action we take. We must behave in a manner that consistently demonstrates personal and professional credibility and creates organizational value.
