Human resource development (HRD) can be defined, in its simplest terms—well...it actually isn’t all that easy to define. A review of the research describes HRD in myriad and sometimes ambiguous ways. If you have studied and reviewed HRD-related books, articles, and documents as part of your preparation for the PHR exam and still aren’t 100% clear in your understanding of where and how it fits within the broader field of HR, you are not alone. And when you add organization development (OD) into the mix, things can seem even more unclear.
