17.1 What Are Objects?

Objects are things we deal with every day. PHP deals with objects, as do most programming languages, and these languages are called object-oriented programming (OOP). OOP is a way of trying to solve a problem in terms of real-world objects. Some people are apprehensive at the thought of tackling this kind of programming, and are perfectly happy to stick with top-down, procedural programs.
