Work with RAW Photos in Photoshop Elements

The RAW format, available in all digital single lens reflex (dSLR) cameras, is a distinct choice from JPEG shooting. Some advanced compact digital cameras also have the RAW format. You can get outstanding results from digital photos whether they are shot in JPEG or RAW.

However, RAW maximizes the information that comes from your sensor and includes a great deal more tone and color steps than are possible with JPEG. This gives you a lot more flexibility when processing an image. RAW files enable you to dig more detail out of bright areas in a picture, unearth more tones in dark areas, and ensure better gradations when adjusting smooth gradients like skies and out-of-focus sections of a photo. ...
