The mainstreaming of digital photography in the past decade has been a constant explosion of new pro DSLRs with ever-increasing megapixels and consumer point-and-shoot cameras with amazing capabilities. The constant barrage of software and updates pile up so high and so quickly that one needs wings to keep above it! The older film photographers lean more toward getting it right in the camera. The newer photographers, who probably never saw a film camera, feel that they can "fix it in Photoshop."

As we get beyond the initial flurry of hardware/software expansion and things begin to settle down and stabilize a bit, it becomes clear that the truth lies somewhere in between photographic expertise and software facility. It's a blending of the ...
