13.9. Summary

In this chapter, you learned about the evolution of Photoshop's Type tool, and saw how far it has come from its humble (and often frustrating) beginnings. You learned the difference between point and paragraph type, and when it's appropriate to use them in a design. You learned to edit text, and to use Photoshop's typesetting controls to apply formatting to either individual characters or multiple paragraphs. You also learned how to use the Find and Replace tool to make easy global changes to large amounts of text; and you learned how to use Photoshop's built-in Spell Check to make sure your work is error free.

You saw several ways to use typography as design, including flowing it along a curved path or within a shape, using layer styles to create advanced text effects, and altering the shape of text by using the Warp tool.

Finally, you learned about the differences between vector and rasterized type, and the situations in which you might want to use them.
