This section covers many technical details of how computers and software deal with digital images. Many people just want to skip the technical details about the geeky inner workings of the computer. But it is useful to have a basic understanding of how Photoshop “sees” your digital image.

I’ll break down these details into a fairly straightforward glossary of terms: Digital Images, Pixels, Resolution, Bits, etc. As much as software engineers try to hide the technical details of image editing, these terms still pop up over and over again in digital photography.
