What’s New in Photos

In macOS High Sierra and iOS 11, Photos has some huge new features. Here are the highlights of the biggest changes in the new versions of Photos.

Redesigned Interface

In previous versions of Photos for Mac, you could choose to navigate either via tabs at the top of the screen or an iPhoto-like sidebar on the left side. With High Sierra, the sidebar has won and is the primary way you navigate. For an overview, see Navigate the Photos Interface.

The sidebar has been reorganized into four groups, Library, Shared, Albums and Projects. Library contains links to all photos, Memories, Favorites, People, Places, Imports, and Recently Deleted items (see Focus on the Sidebar). Albums is divided into two folders. Media Types features ...
