Getting the Shot

Tips and Tricks to Getting Better Sports Shots

Photographing indoor sports or outdoor sports at night means shooting in low light. This usually means pushing the ISO setting to 1600 or higher, using lenses that open to f/2.8, and carefully picking the best spot to shoot from. Remember to ask permission and follow all the rules so that you and the players all stay safe. The advantage to shooting indoors or under consistent lighting is that you can specify exposure settings once and then focus on composition and capturing the moment.
