Configuring dynamic DNS
This recipe describes how to configure a dynamic DNS service in pfSense.
Getting ready
PfSense’s integrated dynamic DNS service allows you to automatically update your dynamic DNS records when a change in an interface’s IP address is detected.
How to do it...
- Browse to Services | Dynamic DNS.
- Click the DynDNS tab.
- Click the “plus” button to add a new record.
- Choose a Service type (that is, dynamic DNS service provider).
- Specify an Interface to monitor (this is typically the WAN interface).
- Specify our Hostname (that is, the friendly DNS name our dynamic DNS provider has supplied us with).
- Toggle Wildcards, if applicable.
- Enter your username and password you’d setup with our dynamic DNS provider.
- Enter a friendly description.
