Network security is a major thorn in most network administrators’ sides. Even a small network requires some level of planning, and many managers fail to see the value of implementing the type of security they really need. Of course, I’ve seen the opposite side of the coin as well. Some administrators wrap the people who use the network in a tight cocoon of regulations and passwords. The chokehold these people create inhibits any kind of creative resource management and often impedes work as well.
