1×1 pixel A measurement commonly used in advertising to record metrics across systems without using complex APIs. When a reportable event occurs in one system, it invokes a 1×1 pixel (a URL that returns a single transparent pixel), which in turn invokes a URL that reports that event to the receiving system.

A/B testing A simple optimization technique that is often used in personalized advertising to compare and optimize two creative variations that are run at the same time to try to determine which one is performing better.

ad (advertising) ID A mechanism Apple and Google have provided in their mobile operating systems to allow advertisements to track users without using personally identifiable information from the devices.
