Appendix D. ActionScript Reference

Most ActionScript books and tutorials assume that you will be using the Flash software to construct your SWF files. Macromedia provides a handful of tutorials and an ActionScript Dictionary reference on its support web site, which isn’t as well organized as it could be. The tables in this appendix cover only ActionScript Version 5, as this is what the latest version of Ming supports. For a reference to newer or deprecated versions, refer to Macromedia’s Flash support site.

The reference is organized in three sections:

  • Operators and control structures

  • Actions, functions, and properties

  • Objects
