This section quickly introduces you to the tools commonly used in Active Directory health checks. All these tools come with Windows Server 2003 or are freely downloadable from Microsoft. This section introduces you to the various tools, places to find them, ways to download and install them, and the basic functions of operating them.
The section titled “Performing an Active Directory Health Check” will walk you through the actual step-by-step procedures in running these tools in a proper sequence, including choosing the correct command-line switch options and parameter settings. This section, then, is just an introduction to the tools themselves.
