If you've used any Google products other than Google Analytics, or if you follow Google in the news, you probably know that Google likes to involve the online community as much as possible. The same is true for Google Analytics. Google invited marketers, developers, and general users to contribute to the development of Google Analytics in a number of ways.

In the end, we believe the involvement of the Google Analytics user community will drive much of the innovation in the Web analytics industry. Consider for a moment products like Google Maps that started out as features solely on Google's Web site. Yet, after creating the ability for others to develop tools and features and to tie into the Google Maps platform through an API, there has been an explosion of new and creative uses of Google Maps that would otherwise never have come into existence.
