Performance means the degree or extent with which an employee applies his skill, knowledge, and efforts to a job assigned to him or her and the result of that application. Tracey (1998) defined performance as ‘a basic instructional method in which the trainee is required to perform, under controlled conditions, the operation, skills, or movement being taught’. Performance appraisal is defined as a process of evaluating employees to understand how well they do their jobs according to performance standards (Dessler, 2000).
