EXPANDING THE PERFORMANCE TECHNOLOGY LANDSCAPE
The foundation for this book is the Performance Technology Landscape presented in Chapter 1. While the Landscape covers the organizations where people work in some detail, it also includes society as part of the work environment (Kaufman, 2006). It is this perspective that we take as we consider several trends we believe will continue to influence individuals and organizations around the world for the foreseeable future.
The chosen trends can be grouped a number of ways. For ease of explanation, we’ve chosen four categories with the caveat that there are interrelationships among these trends. We will discuss some of the connections and leave others to you to explore. The categories:
