Summary

This chapter covered a variety of methods to retrieve performance and fault data from ATM interfaces on Cisco devices. As of this writing, this area of management is new and very dynamic. Many efforts currently are underway in the IETF to expand ATM management capabilities. The ATM RMON MIB is an IETF draft. As implemented in Cisco devices, that MIB is under the Cisco branch. After the MIB moves to a standards track, future implementations will likely change to match the standard. You need to keep up with these developments if this area is important for your operations.
