Chapter 15Brainstorming

The second major phase of team formation is storming, or brainstorming. This is when the team creates the new ideas for how they will achieve their goals or fulfill their purposes. Brainstorming can happen around any particular task or problem to solve. It can be a powerful tool for creating even bigger ideas for a team to embrace. Done just after team formation, it sets the tone for everything that follows. Brainstorming can, of course, be done at any later point as well, especially if changes are necessary. The storming phase can also be the team’s launch into action.
