Project closeout is the point in the project life cycle when the project’s final deliverable—the product, service, process, or plan—is turned over to the customer and user to meet the need for which the project was formed. The promises and expectations created during project initiation are evaluated against results, the objectives are measured, and the benefits are realized. If the project is part of a larger program, the program management office may report on the delivery of benefits and integrate them with the benefits of other concurrent projects or recent operational changes.
