26 Using SQR With PeopleSoft

PeopleSoft uses Structured Query Reporting (SQR) for most of the delivered code. SQR is also the prevalent tool for customizing PeopleSoft. SQR is a simple language that can be used to perform SQL commands. PeopleSoft provides it to facilitate the creation of ‘batch’ programs, which perform many transactions at a given time, usually overnight (while data entry is prohibited). A single SQR can be complex enough to turn on and off a deduction for an employee, or simple enough to print a report of employee names and addresses. The capabilities of SQR are limited only by the bounds of the language.
