22 Health and Life Plan Election

Most of the benefit plans in PeopleSoft fall into two categories: health and life. Health plans provide medical coverage for employees and their dependents. Life plans offer insurance for the employee, naming individuals as beneficiaries. These two plan types have extra tables that store detailed enrollment information.

These enrollment tables contain the entire enrollment history for employees and their dependents/beneficiaries. Storing this information is difficult, since the actual plan, coverage level, and enrolled dependents change from year to year. In this chapter we will look at how health and life plan information can be accurately retrieved from these tables.
