Earnings are the first piece of the paycheck in PeopleSoft. They are the part everyone likes—the positive dollars you get before deductions, taxes, and garnishments are taken out. They are also the first product of the payroll process. Without running payroll, your earnings are zero. PeopleSoft takes care of converting each employee’s job information (salary, pay frequency, standard hours) into dollars during the payroll process using the rules you specify.
