Fundamental technology changes take place approximately once every eighteen months—and this pace of change is increasing. Fundamental change is no longer an unusual circumstance during a project’s life; change is a constant. Project managers must learn to factor this into their planning. Additionally, they need to more effectively utilize their general management skills—including leading, communicating, negotiating, problem solving, and influencing the organization—in order to lead their projects through both internal and external changes.
