How Is Project Recovery Accomplished?
Since the project situation is so grave, senior management has to take action, but it is often difficult to know what action to take. The paradox of project recovery is that several options, such as the use of a “tiger team”—composed of senior professionals—or bringing in consultants, will in turn prove counterproductive. The project progress will be slowed or halted as the project improvement recommendations are implemented. The project intervention and recovery actions taken by senior management, with the best intention to improve the project, will initially produce the opposite results.
