What Are the Different Levels of Teamwork?

To say that the word team is used loosely is a gross understatement. Here are four variations in what might be called the “teamness” of a group working on a project.

  1. Star Teams. According to Katzenback and Smith, in The Wisdom of Teams, a star team is “a small group of people with complementary skills committed to a common purpose, with shared performance goals and a common approach, holding themselves mutually accountable” (1993).
