Conclusions

The research described in this article is the first stage in an investigation into the need for linkages between project management and QFD. The objective is to enhance the benefit from QFD and maximize its value in project formulation. From the literature it can be seen that there has not been enough investigation in the past, so that a future research agenda is clear: there is a need for empirical study of the importance of integrating QFD with project management techniques in new product development. One thing is clear from the research: QFD is not a panacea, and companies need to be pragmatic about the advantages it can and cannot bring.
