Groove

Groove technology is mainly a vision of Ray Ozzie of Lotus Notes fame, who in 1997 formed a company, Groove Networks (GN, www.groove.net) around the concept of establishing collaborative spaces using a server-mediated p2p architecture.

At the time of writing, GN is moving from showcasing beta software to offering business solutions at all levels: individual, small business, government, and enterprise. This ambition somewhat adds “fuzziness” of the technological overview, because clearly the collaborative needs and deployment requirements of enterprise are vastly different than those of the individual.
