Mastering

14.1 Line-up and transmission formats

The mastering process is concerned with producing the final product that is actually going to be used. This could be for use by yourself – say, a CD of audio illustrations for a talk – or it could be a multitrack tape for a Son et Lumière. It could be a programme for broadcast. Here, the final recording has to be prepared in the correct way to fit in with the requirements of the broadcaster as to levels and line-up information.
