After you finish all of your image editing, you need to save and manage your files in a manner that will help you find, and possibly edit, them at a later date. When I finish editing the photograph and choose to save the retouched image (File > Save), Photoshop automatically saves it as a PSD file (based on my External Editing Preferences in Lightroom. See chapter 28 for more information). Saving as a PSD (or as a TIFF, if you prefer) ensures that all layers, masks, paths, ICC color profiles, and channels are retained.
