Chapter 27. Converting to DNG and Saving Changes

The term RAW file is loosely used in the photo industry today to refer to the file format that a digital camera captures. However, not all RAW files are the same, so even though a Nikon shooter captures in “RAW” and a Canon shooter captures in “RAW,” those file formats are different.
Why DNG?
Because almost all camera manufacturer’s RAW formats are proprietary, I prefer to convert my images into the Digital Negative (DNG) format because it is openly documented and openly licensed and I believe it will have a better chance of longevity in the industry.
