Executive Tip Summary

  • ProxiWeb is by far the most elegant and satisfying PalmPilot web browser. Check Preferences to remap the plastic PalmPilot buttons to Previous Page/Next Page buttons for best surfing results.

  • While in ProxiWeb, get into the habit of dragging your stylus up and down the screen. This method of scrolling is smoother and more controlled than whacking the plastic scroll buttons.

  • PalmPilot web browsers are optimized for offline viewing; take advantage of that fact. Hastily visit the web pages you’ll want to read later and cache them—then read them on the plane, train, or automobile.

  • If nothing seems to be happening, check the nearly microscopic vertical bar in the upper-right corner of the screen. If it’s blinking, your web page is still loading.

  • If you don’t need to surf the Web “live,” use Avant Go to download web pages with your PC, to be read on your palmtop later.
