Note to the wise: Ask before you buy. Only a few of the stylus replacements listed here fit into the PalmPilot stylus slot.

Concept Kitchen Stuff

Concept Kitchen sells a line of inexpensive accessories for your screen. WriteRights are clear plastic screen overlays that are said to reduce glare and offer a nicer writing surface. (12 per pack; each lasts a month; $28 per package.) PDA ScreenClean, a cleaning kit designed to restore the original finish to the PalmPilot screen, is $20 and includes both a Karma Cloth (do you need it? Not unless you’re out of old T-shirts) and 12 BrainWash wet-dry cleaning towelettes (these really work). Concept Kitchen, $15; http://www2.conceptkitchen.com.

Scotch Tape

The kind that comes in a blue dispenser (bearing either the name Magic or the product number 811) is perfect for placing on the Graffiti writing area—at a fraction of the cost of other screen-covering products.

Combination Pen/Stylus

Many companies sell combination ball-point pen and PalmPilot stylus devices—just don’t twist the barrel the wrong way before writing on the screen. Some fit the PalmPilot stylus slot, others don’t.

For example, fashionable Throttle is available in a $10 Classic model (in PalmPilot gray or WorkPad black), whose pen clip goes into the stylus pocket; the rest of the stylus hugs the outside of the palmtop.
