Chapter 16. Ten (Or So) Helpful Applications

At the time of this writing, the Palm Pre was very new in the marketplace. Seeing as how it sports a brand new operating system from Palm (webOS), it isn't surprising that the market hasn't yet been inundated with apps for the Pre. However, in this chapter, I describe ten apps currently available that I think are worth your notice. All these apps can be found in the App Catalog; see Chapter 15 for details on using the App Catalog.

Bear in mind that at this time, many of the apps available are still works in progress, which means that they'll improve over time — and because the Pre will automatically notify you as new versions of your installed applications become available, staying up to date is a breeze.

Going forward, Palm is doing everything that it can to encourage companies and individual developers to create exciting new applications for the Pre, and by all accounts, it seems that those efforts are working. On your phone, keeping tabs on the latest and greatest software is just a tap away, so keep a close eye on the App Catalog over the coming months to see all of the exciting new apps that become available.
